Release 2.0.0 includes an update to Study Areas. This release includes some technical changes to meet 508 compliance standards, enhance the performance, and to align the map with current USAC mapping standards.

Release 1.0.0 represents the initial release of the Competitive Eligible Telecommunications Carrier Map (CETC map). The CETC Map displays the areas where CETCs are providing mobile wireless service and receiving high-cost universal service support. The support being provided to the CETCs was frozen in 2012 and will be phased down by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). For this reason, this support is referred to as Legacy support. The study areas are based off data that was created and verified in consultation with the FCC and released as of 01/04/2021.
